Landscape with closed eyes

Inspired by the Abstract Expressionism movement, which emphasized flatness, action painting, and the potential to elicit empathy, I embarked on a painting journey. In this process, I intentionally discarded traditional painting tools such as brushes or scrapers. Instead, I employed an unconventional instrument: a simple straw. With it, I breathed life into my art, recreating the childlike joy of blowing bubbles.

The artwork, titled 'The Landscape with Closed Eyes,' serves as a poignant reference to the landscapes of my childhood. These were the mesmerizing, starry vistas I could conjure in my mind with eyes closed, just before drifting into slumber. However, this magical ability seemed to vanish as I grew older. Through this artwork, I delve into the profound contradiction between vision and perception in the realm of art. Can art transcend mere visual stimuli and reach deeper into our sensory experiences? Can it resurrect the memories, sensations, and perceptions of our childhood? These are the questions that guide my exploration of the this project.
